Book at $39.99/hrBefore any tutoring is booked, there is one full hour together. Your first meeting with Mrs. Barnes.
So the very first tutoring session begins with a plan rather than with an assessment.
Refer a family and save 15 dollars. When a family you refer completes their first session, you receive a $15 credit toward one of your own sessions. The credit applies after that first session is successfully completed — not at booking. There is no limit — refer three families and save $45.
A $20 deposit is required to schedule any session. The deposit reserves your time slot and is applied toward your session.
Test prep is booked at the same hourly rate — $39.99/hour (reg. $50).
Focused preparation for the big yearly assessments, including:
Delaware state assessments (DeSSA / Smarter Balanced), MAP Growth & i-Ready benchmarks, and PSAT 8/9 for middle schoolers — plus SAT, ACT, and AP exams for older students.
Ready-for-test-day support for everyday classroom assessments — weekly quizzes, spelling tests, vocabulary, and unit exams.
We don't just cram for the test — your child builds study habits and test-taking strategies that raise grades all year long.
Our monthly membership is on its way. We are holding it back until the student software is finished, so that what a family pays for on day one is the finished thing rather than a promise.
Until then nothing is locked behind a subscription. A student account is free — it opens the lessons, the practice work and the printable library, and the Language Lab is free for a limited time. You pay for tutoring sessions and the optional add-ons below, and nothing else.
Create a free student accountTutoring works best when the person teaching your child at home knows exactly what is happening in the classroom. Teacher Connect is how Mrs. Barnes talks directly with your child’s school — with your written permission, and always with a summary back to you.
Everything here is virtual. Mrs. Barnes communicates by email and joins school meetings by video or phone. She does not travel to school buildings and does not attend meetings in person. This keeps the cost down for you and keeps her hours available for teaching children.
What you get: up to three contacts each month with your child’s teacher, counselor, coach, or reading specialist.
What a “contact” actually means: Mrs. Barnes reads the situation, writes the email herself, sends it, reads the reply, and then sends you a short written summary in plain English — what she asked, what the school said, and what it means for your child. One contact is that whole round trip, not just one message.
Good for: a child who is struggling in one or two subjects and you want tutoring lined up with what the class is actually doing.
Month to month. Cancel anytime. Unused contacts do not roll over.
What you get: one complete contact — written, sent, followed up, and summarized back to you.
Good for: one specific problem. A grade that does not look right, a teacher who has not answered you, a missing accommodation, or a request for make-up work after an illness.
Why it helps: a letter written by a certified teacher, using the language schools use, is answered differently than the same question from a frustrated parent. That is most of what you are paying for.
No commitment. Buy one whenever you need one.
What you get: Mrs. Barnes reads your child’s current IEP or 504 plan and recent reports, meets with you by video beforehand, and hands you a written list of the exact questions to ask and the goals worth pushing for. After the meeting, she writes up what was decided and what to watch for next.
Good for: any annual review, any evaluation, or any meeting where you have walked out before feeling like you missed something.
Why it helps: she has sat on the school’s side of that table. You walk in knowing what the terms mean and what you are allowed to ask for.
Preparation and follow-up only — add attendance below if you want her in the meeting.
What you get: Mrs. Barnes joins the school meeting with you by video or phone, as a second set of trained ears. She takes notes, asks the follow-up questions, and sends you a written summary the same week.
Good for: IEP and 504 meetings, evaluation results, or any conference where you would rather not be the only adult in the room without a teaching background.
Billed for actual meeting time, to the nearest half hour. Virtual attendance only.
What you get: up to eight contacts a month, one virtual meeting per term included, and a guaranteed reply from Mrs. Barnes within two school days.
Good for: a school year that has become a real fight — multiple teachers, an evaluation in progress, a plan that is not being followed, or a child in crisis at school.
Why it costs what it costs: this reserves real hours in her week, every week, whether you use them or not.
Month to month. Cancel anytime.
A professional special education advocate in this region generally charges 150 to 300 dollars an hour, 200 to 400 dollars for a single IEP meeting, and 300 to 500 dollars a month on retainer.
Teacher Connect is deliberately priced below that, because Mrs. Barnes is your child’s teacher first — she already knows the work, so nobody is paying her to get up to speed.
Honest note: Mrs. Barnes is a certified educator, not a licensed attorney or a board-certified special education advocate. She provides educational support, preparation and communication. She does not provide legal advice or legal representation.
Before anything is sent, you approve it. Teacher Connect requires a signed School Communication Consent form, and Mrs. Barnes shows you every message before it goes out. You can stop or change the service at any time. Ask about Teacher Connect →
